I am looking to get a cage kart for my son, he is 7 years old and has been racing quarter midgets for a couple of years. I am trying to figure out what motor I should invest in. I noticed in the latest rule book that there is going to be a specified sealed motor for the 5 HP classes starting the 2015 - 2016 season. Will the spec Subaru class remain? Should I avoid investing in a Briggs, Honda, Clone, etc... What motor should I invest in that is not going to break the bank and I can continue to run for years to come? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Glad to see the rules posted, but i do not see anything for the Quarter Midgets or the night show classes. When are those going to be posted?

Get a Harbor Freight Predator. Popular at Salem.

I am unable to locate a purple .231 restrictor plate as specified for Briggs Animal in the rule book. I called "uncle franks" and was told that this is not a part that they stock. Any ideas? I plan on showing up for the November 7th race, but unless there is another source, I am afraid that I will not have the required restrictor plate.

CRG, I have some plates that are labeled Animal plates. I am interested in seeing if they fit your motor. I will bring them with me to check fitment. If one of them will fit, I will sponsor it to you.

Per the rule book for 2015-2016 season:
"Salem Indoor will spec. a sealed engine package for all 5hp classes. The engine will be available from multiple builders at an affordable price. Specifications for this engine package will be available by January 2015, giving teams 10 months to purchase the engine package prior to the 2015-16 Salem Indoor Season."
Have the details regarding this been sorted out? I have been holding off on purchasing a motor until the rules have been published.
Thanks!

At this point I haven't heard anything from the rules committee indicating they would like to move forward with this.
