What happened on Saturday between the heats and mains? why did it take 3 hours to figure out line up? We had many fans, friends, family and sponsors leave because of this. Needless to say I also watched drivers from the mini stock class load up and leave. There was never an explanation, or apology as to what took so long. I can tell you that you probably lost your mini stock class for next year. We can guarantee you the Oylers won't come back. It was a huge waste of our day wanting to celebrate the championship, yet having to wait so long and then the long drive home. It was real, and it was fun, but it wasn't real fun.

Well, believe it or not, a lot of racers work on set up and maintenance between the heats and mains. A lot of folks actually learn things during the heats that they can change and apply in the main. We had less than 20 minutes free time once everything was said and done. The UAS class had by far the most entries, may have more invested in their racing program, and some drove a very long distance to participate. I think most of those racers were glad for the time to prepare. The race program isn't, and shouldn't be geared to the convenience of sponsors, friends, and family, racers should be the main focus, attendance is voluntary.

One hour break maybe but three hours is dumb.

Yeah I can agree with the 3 hour wait, that was pretty bad, I think the show should have started later to kill that amount of sitting around. I thought the show was great, but the schedule turned into a 14 hour day which is a bit much. But great show and great racing overall, congratulations to Wayne, always nice to see a 4 stroke take it to them 2 cycles! Thanks Roger and everyone for a great dirt season, looking forward to next year!

I understand all points of views and I have been to many many memorial races and have never had a 3 hour intermission for anything. To the one who told me to stay home, don't worry, we aren't coming back, we raced their all winter long and never had a problem like this. What might have helped is an explanation over the loud speaker and maybe an apology.........yet we got none of that. How would I feel if I sponsored that event and watched people leave and complain because of the delay? I probably would not sponsor the track again.......I am in NO WAY putting down the whole event just the running of it, it could've been more organized knowing their was going to be a higher attendance rate for this weekend.

Getting the races "sorted out" takes more than you can imagine.. it's not all about just your class... it's about getting it right for ALL classes.. Thanks Roger and the track crew for doing the best job possible with the information that was available.. we'll be coming back next year for sure..
Besides.. it was an Event for Jeff "Buddha Kinser" Benson.. not a mini stock car race headliner.. LMAO....

Deana Im sure Bob Leach ( the promotor) would like to hear your upset and how you feel. Please call him before walking away completely. Im sure once he hears how you and your team has supported the whole winter program and his sponsors and how someone who has only come to one race is telling you to stay home. You will get a better answer then what you have recieved so far and im sure you will hear better solutions then to just stay home.

Deana
I have 2 apologies for you, the Mini Stock Group and anyone else inconvenienced by the lengthy intermission.
First: I’d like to apologize for taking so long to apologize; I wanted my mind to settle down from the weekend’s events before trying to formulate an apology. I did quickly apologize on Salem FB to Deana Sunday evening when I finally got home.
Second: I do sincerely apologize for any and all inconvenience caused to you and your group due to the lengthy intermission. It was not our intention to inconvenience anyone Saturday. I take full responsibility for this occurrence. We were working the lineups and points in the old registration room and I could see your group pot lucking and thought your group welcomed the intermission so you could have time to enjoy your potluck; I was wrong.
Now the for what it’s worth portion of my apology. We did make 2 announcements during the intermission as to what was going on (not sure if we said sorry in the announcements). At the last 2 driver meetings and with individual conversations in the pits I did warn everyone including the Mini Stock Group to prepare for a Race Day that could go as late as 11:00 pm. This would explain the Calls I received from 4 Mini Stock Drivers on Wednesday and Thursday asking if the Mini Stocks could finish early. My answer to them was I doubt it but I’ll see what I can do.
Hindsight is 20/20: Now that we have run our first BK that included Cars I have some ideas for next year. 1) Idea is I could have and will run the Mini Stock Main during the intermission. 2) We had talked about having goldfish races during the intermission and dismissed it as we thought there wouldn’t be enough time, I now know there is enough time to schedule this activity during the intermission and will do so next year.
The Mini Stock Class is a great addition to our program and would hate to see it leave after 1 season for 1 reason. I feel throughout the season as we honed the Mini Stock program I gave the group everything they asked for except the early finish during the BK.
I will be scheduling the Mini Stocks again for next year and hope this one incident has not severed our great start. I also hope that Oyler Racing will be a part of 2012-2013. Again Deana, my Sincerest Apologies.
Roger Freeborn

IMHO 3 hours WAY too long!! You should be able to turn your kart maint. and setup around from the heats to the main in less than 1 hour. Don't get me wrong...I like racing but spending 10+ hours to run a show with that few of entries is way to long. Also, this is the first time this winter that I've seen someone load up and go home because the intermission was taking too long
