5th Annual Jeff “Buddha” Kinser Memorial Races
This Friday and Saturday January 25th and 26th, 2013
Salem Indoor Speedway
BK Races happen once a year in the latter part of January at Salem Indoor Speedway, Honoring and remembering one of our fallen racers. Buddha was a big fan of all Speedway Kart racing but especially liked Open Kart Racing. For the last 2 years we have followed the Unlimited All Stars Rules for the Open Class and last year we joined UAS and the BK became a UAS Sanctioned Points Race. We grabbed national attention in Muscle Kart Magazine largely due to the huge number of open entries and ingenious carbon fiber bodywork, never seen in the karting world.
Since last year’s BK4 we had a group of UAS Drivers travel back to Lasoski Speedway, Missouri for the UAS Grand Nationals attracting even more attention to the NW UAS Program. This year during the UAS Rules Vote a new item was put on the ballot in order to accommodate the Western States explosion of UAS Drivers. Previously, every year the UAS Head Office had authorized 1 additional ¼ Point Race on the East Coast as the UAS Season Kickoff, with the addition of 4 new West Coast Regions the Head Office saw a need to add an additional ¼ Point Season Kick-off Race for the West Coast. The BK5 and Salem Indoor won the vote over Arizona’s “Holiday Classic” by a substantial margin.
There’s a little history, now, if you would like to see the Badest, Fastest, Screaming Speedway Karts in the Country do battle for the coveted BK Perpetual Trophy make your way to Salem Indoor Speedway this weekend. Friday night will have open practice from 5:00 – 9:00pm followed by a free BBQ and GOLDFISH RACING! Saturday the Karts will take to the Track at Noon and run elimination heats and mains until the winner is crowned…..Don’t miss it cause the videos are not the same as being there.
