Entry Fee: UAS and Micro Classes, $65.00, ($15.00 from each entry goes towards purse). So if it's $30 for a regular class....where's the other $20 going?...... The other $20 goes into the pot with the rest of the entry money that pays the rent on the building for the weekend and the insurance, along with the building we pit in! I know what the numbers are but if roger wants to post them, i'll let him do it. It cost alot of money to race there, and altho $65 is a tad high for the average karter, i do beleive you get what you pay for. It cost $40 to run 1 class at raymond. It cost $40 to run 1 class at monroe. Salem is 3x the facility and 10x the track. And you will get as many laps as you can handle in 2 days, you get a shot at the most prestegious karting trophy around, and some cash. Giveaways afterwards, ect. Just my opinion.... and i hope $15 doesnt deter anyone from comin! Stop and McDonalds just once for lunch and theres $15. I know people that are spending money hand over foot on tires just for this race, i can name several people that bought big opens, just for this race. Personally i dont think $15 should make or brake wether someones gonna come. I am sure everyone else has there opinions, but keep in mind this is the biggest race around and you get what you pay for! Just my opinion and i hope everyone has a good time! And i hope this thread stays nice...LOL #9

100% agree with Ronnie. Racing ain't cheap! Karting has to be one of the CHEAPEST ways to race an automobile! Try NHRA drag racing at the regional or national level, try SCCA sports car racing, try ASCS sprint cars....you'll quickly find out what spending money is all about.....been there done that. I really doubt that most of us would work for an hourly rate as cheap as Roger is getting to run this series, most of the time it's a thankless job. As Ronnie says, those buildings at Salem aren't cheap, well lit, free power hook ups, warm bathrooms instead of stinking porta poopers, nice facilities. I'm not going to complain, feel damn lucky to have a nice place to race.

I guess my whole point to the question is why is this one class (and the mini sprints) having to fork out more $ for one race to pay for a facility that EVEYONE there races at. If they aren't making money jack up the fees for everyone all year long and not just us for one race....

If they aren't making money jack up the fees for everyone all year long and not just us for one race.... The reason the UAS and Micro Class's entry fee increases for BK is they require hiring extra personell to administer the race not to mention the extra work that goes on prior to the race weekend happening.

Last year was $50 entry and $20 into the purse.... Last year was $50 and $10 into the purse! Just to be clear! #9[/quote] I was only quoting what I had read from a post of yours about the BK3. I'm not sure how many other people the price will affect, but hopefully not many. I'm now on the fence about racing the BK4(not just because of the price) Since you mentioned the cost to me on the phone of how much it is for the track rental cost on Friday night for only four hours, why not just have one long day? A lot of people were really really wanting the practice time but maybe 4 hrs of practice from 8am-12, and then those 2 classes paying the large entry can use the practice time. and maybe charge $20 to others classes if they want to join? Probably too late to make that change but just an idea since there is no motorcycle show in the evening. Rusty #2 BK3 Rules and Format January 28th & 29th, 2011, Salem Indoor Speedway located in the Oregon State Fairgrounds, Salem Oregon. Practice from 5:00-9:00 on January 28th. $500 to Win guaranteed (additional payout depending on # of entries) (must be 18 years old to claim prize money) Entry Fee for the BK3 UAS Class is $50.00 ($20 goes back into the purse). All other classes, entry is $30.00 (no second entry discount for this Event only). Pit Pass $10.00. Camping $15.00. 2010 UAS Rules apply to BK3 UAS Class, download free rules at www.unlimitedallstars.org (Only exception to UAS rules is minimum age of Drivers is 16 attained by Race Day.) All other Speedway Classes will run 2010 IKF Rules. All karts must have your declared weight visible on the front number plate in such a manner that the scale person can easily see it. (NO EXCEPTIONS) Time Trials: Everyone pea-picks at sign-ups for your qualifying order. All Karts get 2 laps under green with your fastest lap counting as your official lap, (green, white, and checker). (In the event 2 karts have the same time the tie breaker is who ever has the fastest 2nd lap) Heats: 1st flight of heats will be straight up by qualifying. ( fast time pole of heat #1.... 2nd fast time pole of heat #2....ect) 2nd flight of heats will be inverted from 1st heats. (fast time last in heat#1 ..... 2nd fast time last in heat #2 .....ect) Trophy Dash: Top 4 karts in qualifying inverted, $100 to win!!!!! Mains: A-Main (25 laps) ....Top 10 karts with the lowest combined point total from heats ( ties will be broken with best qualifying lap) plus 4 transfers from the B-main. B-Main (15 laps) Karts 11-20 in combined heat race points (4 transfer) C-Main (10 laps) Karts 21-30 in combined heat race points (2 transfer) D-Main (10 laps) Karts 31-40 in combined heat race points (2 transfer) E-Main (10 laps) Karts 41-50 in combined heat race points ( 2 transfer)

Ronnie and Jan, Thanks for understanding. Salem is the most expensive track I know of in the NW to rent aside from PIR. On the Buddha weekend we don't have the Flat Track Bikes running to help offset the Rent, Insurance costs and additional Workers hired. If we hit 40 entries in UAS and 40 in Micro I gaurantee Payouts will increase this year.
Nobody is making even minimum wage to produce this Event, in fact last year Bob and I paid to host the Event.
Your understanding is appreciated

I think its pretty plain and simple.....You get what you pay for. Period!!!! The UAS class will pay extra and get the best! The featured class with all the attention, $500 to win, the coolest trophy around anywheres(period) qualifying, $100 dash for cash, and more, and in my opinion this will be the best field of Opens anywheres west of the mississippi. Lets have this conversation on Jan 22nd and see how everyone feels! I say there is gonna be around 30ish in the UAS class and lets hope a bunch more in all the others! Good luck to all and thanks Roger and Bob for letting us do this!

Roger... Myself, I appreciate everything you are doing to give us a place for those of us that want to have fun.... to HAVE FUN... we get to run against some of the best karters in the NW.. not just the UAS guys.. everyone!! Being part of the NWUAS is just a big plus..
I am honored to be the one who puts up the 500 cash for the winner this year for the BK4... and would really like to see who ever ends up with it.. that they show everyone the respect that is due to the guys putting on the show... shake their hands.. and thank them, high five all your buddies, congrats all around... but remember..... because without those guys, Roger,Bob and crew.. we wouldn't have the oppourtunity to come out and have the fun we are expecting.. and wanting so bad.... why else would we spend ridiculous amounts of money, take unreal time away from our family's and end up working all nighters on chassis setup and tires?
Y'alls stuff would still be sitting in the shop if it wasn't for the guys putting on the show.... appreciate the hell out of you Roger.. thanks!!
BTW.. when was the last time you went road racing, or sprint racing.. dirt is cheap in comparision.. last outing @ PIR was over 100.00 for the entry alone..and that was more than a few years ago, can't imagine what it is now..

Right On Ken, its people like you that are willing to put their money and hard work where their mouth is, for the growth of the BK and UAS Series.
